Overturned tractor trailer crash kills Salisbury man

A Salisbury man died overnight Sunday after police say his tractor trailer overturned near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

According to Maryland State Police, 73-year-old George Fooks was traveling eastbound on Route 50 near Cape St. Claire around 2:21 a.m. when he lost control of his Freight Liner Tractor Trailer. It was reportedly carrying Cloverland Milk products when it overturned on top of a guardrail.

Police say it is unknown exactly what caused Fooks to lose control; however, they say speed could be a possible factor.

As a result of the overturned truck, police say a small diesel fuel spill occurred. It was reportedly contained by the Maryland Department of the Environment.
