Ocean View PD will hold training to teach officers how to treat hurt K-9s on scene

The Ocean View Police Department and the Veterinary Tactical Group will be offering training to police departments in Delaware on how to asses and treat a dog during a hostile environment situation. This was an idea came about after more departments started adding K-9 units and wanting to learn how to properly care for their dog in case they were hurt the scene.

PFC Justin Hopkins, from the Ocean View Police Department says, “If somehow were to happen to him it would be like a brother or son getting my shot or killed and I don’t know how I would live with myself seeing him injured and not being able to treat him…it would just be heartbreaking for me.”

The training will take place at the Bethany Beach National Training Guard facility on February 17th and 18th from 8AM to 5PM
