Nixon Lifts Pocomoke Past Feisty Rams Squad

Senior Tyler Nixon came up huge down the stretch on an off night for Pocomoke, as they gutted out a 67-53 win over Parkside. The win improves the Warriors to 16-1, while the loss drops the Rams to 13-3.
The Rams would jump out to a quick lead as Raequan Williams would score off a put back, score an and 1 on a drive, and then hit a triple all in the first quarter. LiCurtis Whitney would finally get the Warriors going, scoring on back to back lay ins before Tyler Nixon would get out in transition for a couple scores as well. The teams would be tied at 17-17 after the first, before the Warriors would go on a small run to open the second quarter. Nixon would connect on a short range jumper, followed by a pair of transition lay ins by Tyrone Matthews. But this time the Rams would be the ones that would respond. Gary Briddell would get a coupld tough scores underneath to get his team up by 1, then Xavier Waters would drill a deep three with seconds left in the half to give Parkside a 4 point lead headed to halftime. Pocomoke would then come out of the gates and push back to take the lead in the third. Jerrick Johnson would hit a 3 to open, followed by a couple more post moves by Whitney. Williams would then bring Parkside back as the teams would find themselves tied up 47-47 in the 4th. That’s when Nixon took over. The senior drove baseline and hit a mid range pull up while getting fouled to give his team a 4 point lead. Then followed it with a strong drive and lay in to put the game away on the next drive.
Pocomoke returns to work on Thursday when they host Bennett, while the Rams Travel to Crisfield on Thursday.
