Md. voters urged to register early for primaries

Maryland voters are urged to plan ahead for this year’s primary elections.
According to the Wicomico Count Board Of Elections, the last day to register or change a party affiliation before the primary is April 5. Residents also have the option to vote early on April 14. The primary election will be formally held on April 26.
Anthony Gutierrez, Election Director at the Wicomico County Board Of Elections, stresses it’s important to register early.
Gutierrez says registering early makes it a smoother experience for both the voter and voting officials, because it reduces the risk of complications.
“For example sometimes, someone will fill out a form in a hurry and we may not be able to read the handwriting or sometimes they’ll transpose numbers on an address so our system doesn’t recognize it. So we have to contact the voter for further information.” He explains.
For information on how to register, Wicomico County residents can call 410-548-4830. They can also register online.
