MD Board of Elections changes voting process

We’re still a couple months away from the Primary election in Maryland but already, we’re being notified of big changes at the polls. Officials from the Maryland Board of Elections tells 47 ABC voters should expect to see paper ballots if they head out for early voting.

That means instead of using a digital touch screen device, voters will have to manually make their selections and then feed that paper ballot into a digital scanner. This is all because of the large field of republican presidential candidates.

On the digital screen not all candidates can be viewed at the same time, which can be seen as a disadvantage for those who may have a name at the end of the alphabet. Today the Maryland Board of Elections members voted unanimously to switch to hand marked paper ballots in all early voting centers for the primary.

April 14th through the 21st is the early voting period. The Maryland Primary is April 26th.
