Man accused of theft and DUI in Worcester Co.

A Maryland man is facing charges, after Police say he stole property, and then drove drunk.
The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office says on Wednesday around 10:25 PM, Deputies responded to a 911 call about a theft in the area of Daye Girls Road Bishopville. Officials say a description of the suspect, and their vehicle, was broadcast out, and was located shortly there after on Bishopville Road.
Investigators say the driver was identified as 50-year-old Eric Evans Eschenberg, of Rockville. He was apparently also positively identified as the suspect. The Sheriff’s Office says the suspected stolen items were found inside of Eschenberg’s vehicle.
During the investigation, a Deputy also apparently noticed an open can of beer, along with a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Eschenberg’s breath. He also apparently had slurred speech, and did poorly on field sobriety tests.
Eschenberg was arrested, and charged with theft under $100, and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was later released, pending trial.
