Homicide under investigation in Northampton Co. after body found in burned trailer

State Police are looking for information, after they say a woman was found dead in an Exmore residence.

Virginia State Police say around 4:00 AM on January 27, Exmore Volunteer Fire Department requested the assistance from Troopers, to investigate a fatal residential trailer fire on Occohannock Neck Road in Exmore, in Northampton County.

According to the report, the fire department responded to reports of a residential trailer fire, that they found fully consumed by fire. The sole resident of the trailer, 70-year-old Shirley Onley, was apparently later found dead, at the scene.

Her remains were then taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Norfolk for examination and autopsy, which Officials say turned this into a homicide investigation.
