Giant Food offering free cake on Saturday

A local grocery store is celebrating their birthday, and are inviting you to join the party.

Giant Food says they are offering free cake for their 80th birthday celebration. At their locations in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, from 12:00 until 4:00 PM on Saturday, they will be serving free birthday cake.

“On this historic anniversary, Giant is honored to invite our valued customers and community members to celebrate our 80-year history,” said Gordon Reid, President, Giant Food of Landover, Md.  “Our customers remain at the heart of our business, and we love helping our customers save money, save time and eat well.”

The first Giant opened on February 6, 1936 as Washington D.C.’s first grocery store, at Georgia Avenue and Park Road.
