Georgetown Town Manager Gene Dvornick has announced Wednesday night that Councilman David R. Anderson has resigned his position as Council member from the Fourth Ward, effective immediately.

Dvornick says Anderson indicated personal reasons for his resignation, which comes in the second year of his two-year term on the Town Council.

According to the town manager, the current term expires in May 2016.

In a press release, Dvornick explains that in accordance with the Town Charter, the Town Council has the authority to appoint an individual to complete the remainder of the term with a majority vote of the remaining members of the Town Council, and the Council is seeking someone to take over.

This position will be formally filled for a two year term (2016 – 2018) during the next Municipal Election, set for May 14, 2016.

The deadline for filing a Notice of Candidacy is April 22, 2016 at 5:00 PM., according to Dvornick.
