Franchot urges Marylanders to “Shop MD Energy”

Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot made his way to the Eastern Shore earlier today as a part of his Shop Maryland Energy Tour.
We caught up with Franchot in Cambridge, where once again, he is urging Marylanders to take advantage of tax free purchases on appliances such as air conditioners, washers, dryers and others that meet or exceed Energy Star efficiency standards.
“There’s so much consumer interest in this weekend that they end up buying not just energy efficient, tax-free appliances, they end up buying a lot of other appliances where they do pay the sales tax. It’s mainly a wash for the state, but it’s particularly good for small businesses.” said Comptroller Franchot.
This tax free event will run from this Saturday through Monday, which is President’s Day.
