End of Life Option Act supporters testify in Annapolis

Supporters of the End of Life Option Act or House Bill 404, testified in front of the Maryland House Health and Government Operations Committee on Friday.

The legislation would allow mentally capable terminally ill adults to get prescription medication which they can then self-administer to terminate their own life.  47 ABC spoke with one of the folks who testified on Friday who has metastatic breast cancer.

Kelly Lange says, “I will die of cancer one day. Having this option will bring me so much comfort to know that I could exercise a little bit of control if I chose to. It’s important that people realize there is a need for this legislation.”

The House Bill was introduced in conjunction with Senate Bill 418 which is scheduled to be heard this upcoming Thursday.
