DSP investigates two bomb threats in Sussex Co.

The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a pair of bomb threats that were called in at two area schools, earlier Tuesday morning.

State Police say the first incident occurred around 9:35 AM, when an unknown male suspect called the Shields Elementary School, on Shields Avenue in Lewes and advised that there was a bomb inside of the building.

Police in Lewes say the school was evacuated and searched by the Lewes Police Department, Delaware State Police, and the school administration.

The reports say, nothing out of the ordinary or suspicious was found in the building, and both staff and students were allowed to resume their daily activities.

Also in Delaware, a similar incident happened, Tuesday morning just before 10 AM.

Authorities say a male suspect placed two phone calls to the John M. Clayton Elementary School, on Clayton Avenue in Frankford, and advised officials that there was a bomb outside the school.

The reports say the building was placed on a low level lock down status, while it was searched by school administration, and Delaware State Police K-9 units.

Authorities say, nothing out of the ordinary or suspicious was located and staff and students were also allowed to resume their daily activities.

Troopers say, both of these incidents currently remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police, and it is unknown if these bomb threats are related to the series of bomb threats which have been occurring throughout the state over the past few weeks.
