Despite public concerns, chicken houses will be built

Concerned citizens against CAFO’s or Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations showed up Tuesday night at the Wicomico County Council meeting in opposition against 13 chicken houses slated for construction off of Naylor Mill Road.

The group says its main concern is a potential health risk from chicken house fans blowing particles of manure into the air beyond the houses.

However, it’s unlikely anything will stop the process as the county council tells 47 ABC the construction plans met all county zoning requirements.

The council says the only action they can take is to revisit those requirements to see if they need to be restructured.
