‘Dawgs Down Easton, Win 4th Straight

The North Caroline boys basketball team won their 4th straight ball game Monday when they defeated Easton 66-56. The win improves the Bulldogs to 8-9, while the loss drops the Warriors to 10-6.

The Warriors would be able to jump out to a small lead early as Tyquan Beckett would score a few buckets down low for 6 first quarter points. He and Trae Deshields would add a couple more scores in the second before the ‘Dawgs would finally go on a run. David Bailey Jr. would do the damage scoring, as he finished with a game high 24. Still, Easton would hold on to a slim 1 point lead at halftime. The Bulldogs continued to push in the second half as Ja’mion Franklin would make his presence felt down low, converting a few tough baskets as North Caroline would take the lead. TJ Nixon would break his man down and get to the rack for a score just before the buzzer for Easton to cut the Bulldogs lead to just 1 headed to the fourth. There, Bailey continued to score and pushed the lead back to 8 with 5 minutes to go. That’s when Easton would go on one final run. Nixon would find Ryan Farr underneath for an and 1 that would get Easton within 3. Then Deshields would score an and 1 in transition to get the Warriors within 1. But just as they got close, the ‘Dawgs would put the game away. Tay Potts came up with a steal and converted a lay in for two. Then a long rebound would find Potts in transition, where he would score another 2 plus the foul to put the game away.

North Caroline returns to work Thursday when they travel to North Dorchester, while Easton host Kent County on Tuesday.
