Damages from Jonas leaves Delaware vulnerable

With winter conditions expected Monday night, the National Weather Service issued a coastal flood warning for areas along the Delaware Bay.
A shoreline administrator with Delaware Department of Natural Resource and Environmental Control (DNREC) tells 47 ABC minimal flooding is expected, but nothing too serious.
However, officials say they are concerned, since sand dunes took a pounding during the last winter storm, leaving the first state’s shore line at risk for more damage.
“We are vulnerable, we have seen a lot of sand taken off the dunes, and all by wave action into the Delaware Bay. There is still some protection from that sand at it’s current position, but not like it was in the dunes,” said Tony Pratt, DNREC’s shoreline and waterway section administrator.
?The national weather services says wave action will likely mean significant beach erosion.
Officials say once this storm passes they’ll go back to repairing the sand dunes.
