CSD Uses Late 21-2 Run To Top Rival Easton

The Cambridge South Dorchester boys basketball team go all they could ask for from their rivals Easton for the first 26 minutes of their game. But the games final 6 minutes were all Vikings, as they closed the game on a 21-2 run to win 59-41 win. The win improves the Vikings to 15-3 on the year, while the loss drops the Warriors to 11-8.

The teams exchanged blows early on with the Vikings riding the hot hand of Ivan Taylor to a 28-21 lead at half. Nasir South then got going for the Warriors in the third, as he would help claw Easton to within 36-34 headed to the 4th. There for the first two minutes, it looked like Easton may be able to pull off the upset after a South corner 3 would give them the lead with 6 minutes to play. But that’s when Cambridge took over. Taylor and Greene would both get a monster block on defense to set the tempo, and then begin to get their offense going. Emory Wongus knocked down a baseline jumper, while Greene would get to the rack for a couple scores to push the lead to double digits. Then their big horse would bring them home, as Taylor added a couple more buckets to close the door.

Cambridge returns to work on Monday when they host Decatur, while Easton waits for the playoff draw on Tuesday to see who they will face in the state tournament.
