Country star Miranda Lambert donates to Worcester County Humane Society

Country star Miranda Lambert has picked Worcester County Humane Society in Ocean City, as the the one lucky animal shelter in Maryland to receive a generous donation from her organization, the MuttNation Foundation.

MuttNation picked one shelter in each of the 50 states, and we’re told their board of directors spent over 100 hours sorting through shelters in all 50 states in order to pick which ones were most deserving.

Worcester County Humane Society says they believe they were picked because they are a no-kill shelter, they operate mostly on donations, and they have a deep dedication to help animals.

We’re told Lambert donated $3,000 to the society.

“We’re just a small shelter here on the Eastern shore, so to get recognized by Miranda Lambert ,and the foundation that she started with her mother, it’s just amazing,” said Tina Walas, Public Relations Director for the shelter.

Walas said the Humane Society is always in need of volunteers, and that people are welcome to come visit the shelter or call to make an appointment.

Walas says the shelter also has an event called Boardwalking For Pets on April 23, that they would love the public to come out to.
