Cause of Pittsville vacant house fire under investigation

The cause of a house fire in Pittsville, remains under investigation. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says a passerby discovered the flames at the South Fork Road home, around 7:00 AM on Tuesday.
A dozen firefighters from Pittsville, Willards, and Gumboro Fire Departments responded, and had the one alarm blaze under control in a hour.
The two story home was apparently vacant at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported. Damages are estimated at $5,000.
Investigators say both where the fire started, and what caused it, are still under investigation. Anyone with information about this fire, is asked to call the Salisbury Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office at 410-713-3780.
