Brittingham Fuels Decatur Past Parkside

Torrey Brittingham turned in another signature performance, pouring in a game high 26 points and helping lead Decatur to a critical road win at Parkside 79-55. The win improves the Seahawks to 18-1, while the loss drops the Rams to 16-4.

Decatur would take a very early lead in the game as Keve Aluma was making his presence felt in the post, coming up with a couple post finishes, while also corralling rebounds left and right. Parkside eventually got going at the other end though. Trajon Branch knocked down a corner three ball, followed by a short range jumper form Paul Morgan that would tie up the game headed to the second quarter. There, Torrey Brittingham got going. He connected on a short mid range jumper to get it started, then scored back to back transition lay ins, including an and 1 to push his teams lead to double digits. The Rams continued to battle as Tyrese Purnell came up with a couple put back scores underneath. But once the third quarter hit, the road team took over. Aluma and Brittingham continued to score at will as the lead stretched to over 20. They would eventually close the door for the win early on in the 4th.

Decatur returns to work on Monday when they travel to play Cambridge, while Parkside awaits the draw for the state tournament, which is scheduled to take place on Monday.
