Wicomico County moves forward on new radios

It appears Wicomico County leaders are moving forward with the purchase of a new radio system for the county’s emergency services personnel.
Currently the county operates on a 20-year-old Motorolla radio system according to county officials.
The say the system is so out of date, that replacement parts are no longer made for it.
County officials say the new radio system will have a better range and will also be able to locate personnel using GPS.
That upgrade will require the county to renovate their radio towers to increase their power.
We’re told a deal for this project should be worked out by early summer.
