A blaze that ripped through a home in Rehoboth Beach, on Monday, has been ruled as accidental.

According to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire broke out late, Monday night around 11:50 PM, at a two story home on Bayard Avenue. Crews from Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, Indian River, Bethany Beach, and Millville fire companies, worked together, and the blaze was reportedly extinguished, after nearly three hours.

Officials say cold weather hampered fire crews, as they battled the flames. The Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire has been ruled as accidental, after they discovered that it was started by an electrical malfunction in the home’s branch circuit wiring.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and the building was not occupied at the time of the fire. The total damages were estimated at $300,000.
