Third bomb threat called into police department on Delmarva

Members of the Smyrna Police Department say they are investigating a bomb threat that occurred Thursday around 5:19 P.M.

The call was reportedly made just two minutes after a similar call was made to the Dover Police Department, and nine minutes after one made to the Public Safety Building in Ocean City.

Smyrna Police report that the call advised of a bomb within the building that would soon be detonating.

Police say the building was evacuated, and members of the Delaware State Police and Dover Air Force Base Security Forces K-9 unites were called in to sweep the perimeter of the building.

Smyrna Police say there is no threat to the public, and anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Smyrna Police Department at 302-653-9217.
