Talbot County continues to clear out its roads

Areas in Talbot County were hit with anywhere from 12 to18 inches of snow this past weekend. Officials say there were no reported injuries or deaths, but the roads are still a problem.
Clay Stamp, the Emergency Services Director of Talbot County says, “County roads and private lanes are snow covered and very hazardous and we’re still asking people to give us some time.”
The county has been cleaning out the roads since Friday afternoon and are now working on making them passable for two-way traffic.Talbot County has been receiving help from different agencies to get its roads cleaned up.
“Most all of our roadways are passable but we’re trying to widen them and give them more access,” says Stamp.
Warren Edwards, the Superintendent of the Talbot County Roads Department took us on a ride on one of their loaders. We went down Kingston Lane where Edwards tell us their loaders have to go over some parts of the road up to a dozen times to have all the snow and ice completely removed.
“It’s more difficult when you get traffic on them because then it’s packed and it becomes ice ,” says Edwards.
The county has also had to clean up the same roads on different occasions because mother nature has not been on their side.
“We had a lot of wind blown and we couldn’t get all the way thru and that’s kind of why some of them are still closed or partially closed,” says Edwards.
Edwards’ tells us it’s not been in an easy job the past few days, but he hopes to have all the county roads clear within the next day.
The county is asking residents to be patient and to continue to stay off the roads as much as they can in order to speed up the process.
