Savannah’s Snowdrops

them didn’t make it — passing away six days after being born. a year later – the hopkins are making sure savannah’s memory lives on. 47abc’s colin bradley has the story. the world may never notice – if a snowdrop doesn’t bloom. or even pause to wonder if the petals fall too soon. but every life that ever forms – or ever comes to be – touches the world in some way for all eternity. so begins poem that the hopkins family holds close to their heart. last year they knew they were expecting a baby – but the doctor’s words shocked them. 14.51.53 how do you feel about triplets – and we were shocked i was very quiet – i thought it was a joke 14.52.00 far from it…the ultrasound revealed that one of the triplets “baby a” — would have heart problems — a situation made more delicate when the babies came a month early. 14.53.37 so we spent thanksgiving there – spent cht ristmas there – you know new years and then on january 8th all 3 girls were born 14.53.45 emma — paige — and savannah — the one previously called ‘baby a.’ they were whisked off to the nic-u but before her mother could even hold here in her arms – savannah passed away. and em and paige were left without their sister. 14.59.53 even though she was only in our lives for 6 days she was with them a lot longer of course because they were always together14.59.59 but the hopkins were determined to find a silver lining – so they were looking for a sign. 14.55.58 and while we were in the nic-u we received a care package from project sweet peas 14.56.03 so they started savannah’s snow drops – a division of project sweet peas that gives support to families who lost a baby or have a baby in intensive care. and it helps them cope with the tug of war of emotions. 15.57.36 so it’s kind of that mixed emotion with how you’re celebrating that first birthday 14.57.40 dealing with that going through first christmases it’s just kind of even their first – so you see them crawling for the first time you know you should have three babies starting to do that instead of just the two 14.57.52 the rest of the poem reads: the little one we longed for – was swiftly here and gone. but the love that was then planted – is a light that still shines on. and that light is savannah’s snowdrops. colin bradley – 47abc. savannahs snowdrops currently serves christiana hospital, kent general, and dupont – and they hope to serve prmc in salisbury as well. for more information on what project sweet peas does head yto our website at 47 abc dot com.
