Salisbury man wanted after reportedly robbing and shooting at taxi driver

Police say they are searching for a Salisbury man, who robbed a taxi driver a gun point, and attempted to shoot him when he ran away.
Salisbury Police say on Tuesday around 7:55 PM, Officers responded to Emerson Avenue, for reports of an armed robbery, with shots fired. Once on scene, Police say they found a 34-year-old man running down the street. Their investigation found that the 34-year-old man was a taxi driver, who had been dropping someone off on Emerson Avenue.
According to the report, during the drop off, the passenger pulled out a gun, pointed it at the driver, and demanded money. The victim reportedly handed over and undisclosed amount of cash before running from the taxi. Police say the suspect then got out, and started to chase the victim, while shooting at him.
The victim was able to get away, and contact Police, before being taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for his injuries, which are apparently not life-threatening.
Police say during their investigation they identified the suspect as 18-year-old Benjamin Rivera-Alvira, and are now searching for him. Police say they have an arrest warrant out for Rivera-Alvira, for attempted first and second degree murder, first degree assault, robbery, and possession of a handgun. Rivera-Alvira is considered armed and dangerous by Police.
