Salisbury man indicted after admitting to “shaking” six month old

Darren Adkins, the man who admitted to shaking a six month old child to make her be quiet, has been indicted. The child that he shook later died.

Adkins was indicted Monday according to online court documents. He is facing nine charges including first and second degree murder.

Last month, he initially told police the baby had fallen in her playpen on December first. She was taken to PRMC and then transferred to Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. where she was later pronounced dead three days later.

According to court documents, a doctor at PRMC told authorities that the child had bleeding in the brain and bruising on both sides of her face and neck, which was apparently not consistent with the initial story told by Adkins about her falling in the play pen.
