Revenue at Maryland casinos up 11 percent in December 2015

Maryland gaming officials say December’s revenue at the state’s five casinos was up 11 percent over December 2014.
The casinos generated more than $95 million in revenue in December, Maryland Lottery and Gaming said in a news release Tuesday.
The agency says monthly revenues were up five percent at Hollywood Casino Perryville; 19 percent at Horseshoe Casino Baltimore; nearly eight percent at Maryland Live Casino; 15 percent at Casino at Ocean Downs; and 14 percent at Rocky Gap Casino Resort.
According to Maryland Lottery and Gaming director Gordon Medenica, the report shows promise for the state’s economy.
“The casino business and the lottery business are almost about the same size for us and combined, we’ve contributed almost over a billion dollars to the state in the last fiscal year and we expect that numbers to go up even higher in fiscal 2016.” Says Medenica.
