Police: Traffic stop leads to gun and drug arrests

Police say three men were arrested after a traffic stop Friday led authorities to find a loaded handgun and narcotics.

Around 5:20 p.m. Friday, officers were reportedly called to respond to the 400 block of Jefferson Street for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway. Police say the immediately observed three occupants sitting inside of it when they arrived.

The driver, identified as 20-year-old Daquan Dickerson, allegedly accelerated and fled from the driveway as officers approached the vehicle.

Dickerson has been charged with CDS possession, handgun in vehicle, and handgun possession by a prohibited person.

Police say the car was eventually stopped near Moss Hill Lane and Harrison Street, where the driver was placed under arrest and charged with various traffic violations resulting from the brief pursuit.

According to police, a search of the vehicle incident to the arrest resulted in
the seizure of the loaded .38 caliber Colt Diamondback handgun, an undetermined amount of marijuana and cocaine.

It also led to the arrest of the two other occupants of the vehicle. The suspects have been identified as 25-year-old Daronte Lamont Jones and 21-year-old Richard Kevin Washington, Jr.

Jones faces charges of CDS possession, handgun in vehicle, and handgun possession by a prohibited person.

Washington, Jr. faces charges of CDS possession.
