Members of the Maryland State Police say, a drunk driver caused a three car crash in Berlin Tuesday night.
Troopers in Berlin say, the incident happened around 9:00 PM on Route 50 and Hall Road. According to reports, 21-year-old Addeline Schenk, of Pittsville was driving west on Route 50 when she crashed into an empty car parked on the right shoulder. The impact of the crash reportedly caused a tire from the parked car to became dislodged landing in the middle of the road. Then 22-year-old Gabriele Eckstein, of Ellicott City, driving on the same road, reportedly hit the tire causing her to lose control and hit a guardrail.
Troopers say, neither Schenk nor Eckstein suffered any injures.
However upon contact with Schenk, troopers say they could smell a strong odor of alcohol. A sobriety tests was reportedly given to her, which she apparently failed. Schenk was arrested for DUI and taken to the Berlin Barrack where she refused to consent to an alcohol concentration test. She is being charged with DUI/DWI and negligent driving and has since been released.
