One injured, one killed in two vehicle crash in Millsboro

A crash in Millsboro that took the life of a Millsboro woman, is under investigation.

The Delaware State Police say their Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that happened around 8:50 AM on Tuesday, on Mt. Joy Road. According to the report, 49-year-old Robert Weaver, of Millsboro, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup on Mt. Joy Road, near Cordrey Road.

At the same time, Police say a 31-year-old Millsboro woman was driving a 2001 Buick Century, in the opposite direction of the Silverado. The Silverado apparently briefly left the roadway, and after it made its way back, it reportedly rotated sideways, crossing the double yellow line, and hitting the Buick.

Investigators say the truck continued off the side of the road, where it overturned multiple times before stopping on its left side. The Buick was apparently forced off the side of the road, where it stopped.

Police say Weaver was wearing a seat belt, and was taken to Beebe Healthcare by EMS, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and released. The 31-year-old woman, who is not being identified at this time pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at Beebe Healthcare. She was apparently wearing her seat belt.

The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit says they are continuing their investigation into this incident. No charges have been filed at this time. Mt. Joy Road between Cordrey Road and Cannon Road was closed for about three hours, while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash to contact Corporal N. DeMalto at 302-703-3267 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. Tips can also be sent via text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword “DSP.”
