Ocean City prepping for coastal flooding

Ocean City has officially closed the gates to it’s beach and officials are encouraging people not to visit the resort town this weekend.

Mayor Rick Meehan says high winds and tides as well as coastal flooding are their biggest concerns.

They’re asking all residents to tie everything down, bring loose items inside, and prep properties with sand bags if you haven’t already.

The town has also canceled all recreational programs scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Meehan continues, “Look at this as a very serious storm. It’s not a hurricane but these coastal Nor’easters that come through here particularly this time of the year can cause significant problems for a seaside resort like Ocean City.”

town officials have also created a map outlining the flood risk zones for the area.
