OC pier to be repaired before Memorial Day

The pier in Ocean City is currently overseen by a franchise company. Town officials have confirmed that they’re moving ahead to order the materials to rebuild the structure. The end of the pier was destroyed during the winter storm over the weekend.
The goal is to have the pier finished before Memorial Day weekend. We’re told this should be the last thing repair completed in reference to the winter storm.
Joseph Theobald, the emergency services director for Ocean City says, “Compared to the rest of the state and even the communities around us, we got through this very well. We are in our recovery mode right now. We are doing our damage assessment. At some point in time we’ll get this community back to where it should be.”
This is not the first time it’s been destroyed by a storm in the last several years.
Theobald also says the town is currently calculating the damage costs related to the storm and should have those results in the next few days.
