Mother charged with DUI after crash sends her 3 kids to hospital

Troopers from the Maryland State Police say Barbara Sellner, 41, of Centreville, was taken into custody following a crash along Cordova Road Monday. A 3-year-old child of hers has been taken to Johns Hopkins Surgical Center
According to investigators, Sellner was traveling with her three children around 1:00 P.M., when the minivan she was operating swerved off the roadway and struck a tree.
Troopers say they are unaware whether or not the children were properly restrained, however all four family members were taken to Easton Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries.
Police say the 3-year-old child was then transported to John Hopkins Surgical Center for the treatment of life threatening injuries.
State Police say that due to the observations and the information learned by Troopers on the scene, a Field Sobriety Test was issued and led to Sellner’s arrest.
Sellner has reportedly been charged with causing life-threatening injury while operating a vehicle while impared/under the influence, Driving a Vehicle While under the influence of alcohol per se, Driving a Vehicle While under the influence of alcohol per se while transporting a minor, Driving a Vehicle While impaired by alcohol, and Driving a Vehicle while impaired by alcohol while transporting a minor.
State Police say the Talbot County State’s Attorney’s Office and Department of Social Services were consulted and the Maryland State Police Crash Team will investigate the incident further.
