Monday Memo – January 4, 2016
MONDAY MEMO
TO: ALL STAFF
FROM: KATHLEEN
DATE: 4 January 2016
WELCOME TO 2016!
- If one of your resolutions was to lead a healthier lifestyle, a Station supported YMCA membership might be just the thing to help you kick-start that resolution. IF YOU MAKE USE OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP, the Station will cover the cost of your basic membership. If you did not use your 4Q 2015 membership, we will need to talk before I commit the company to paying for 1Q 2016. These memberships are offered on a quarterly basis and are limited to quarter by quarter renewals at the discretion of the Station. The current roster of members is posted on both Station bulletin boards. Please note on that paperwork whether or not you wish to continue your membership and/or if there has been a change in your family status. If you are a new employee and wish to take advantage of this offer, add your name to the list. The basic memberships are offered at no cost to the employee and special classes and upgrades, if desired, are at the expense of the individual. If you are interested, we need you to sign up by the end of the week.
- The 2016 Station Holiday Schedule has been posted on both bulletin boards. WMDT 47ABC observes six (6) legal holidays. New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. See bulletin boards for specifics and your Supervisor if you have questions.
OUT IN THE COMMUNITY
- Lenita Wesson will be speaking at Prince Street Elementary School on Wednesday
- Phil Bankert, Teri Mahoney, Greg LaFrance and I will be attending the SWED sponsored meeting on the redesigned marketing message for Downtown Salisbury at Headquarters Live on Wednesday at 5:30PM
- Leland Miller has Jury Duty all this month.
OPERATIONS CHANGE FOR ALERTS AND SCHOOL CRAWLS
- Due to FCC regulations, we will run crawls and/or messages that could be considered emergency messages with the new Live Wire weather system. The Sky Alert system is now deactivated. This is because all alerts of this type MUST now have a vocal element included that repeats the message in the crawl twice on our SAP channel so our vision impaired audience can hear it. Due to equipment constraints, this can only be done on the primary ABC channel. This policy change went into effect last month.
WELCOME ABOARD TO
Brian Ortiz who started as Account Executive Trainee today. Brian brings a lot of energy and willingness to learn to our Station and I am confident that he will be a terrific addition to our Sales Team. He will graduate from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX, with a BA in Communication – Specialization: Public Relations and Advertising this Spring and is finishing up his remaining course work on-line. He is bi-lingual, a strong communicator with experience in Public Relations, is web and social media savvy and is a creative problem solver. Please join me in welcoming him to our Team.
