Maryland State Highway tell drivers “stay off the roads”

The Maryland State Highway Administration says as soon as the snow started falling Friday afternoon, they sent out all their crews.

They’ll be clearing bridges and all pathways first and then will be moving on to the local roads.

The state of Maryland has about twenty seven hundred plows and hundreds of those have been deployed on the shore. SHA also has roughly thirteen thousand tons of salt on the lower eastern shore available for use. However, even with all the supplies and prep, officials say they really want people to stay off the roads.

Bob Rager a spokesperson with SHA says, “We really worry about the emergency responders. We want to make sure they have all the room they need. Even if you’ve driven in this before all it takes is one little slip up out there to clog up the road and make it so that police, fire, and ambulances can’t get through the road. We don’t want that.”

The Maryland State Highway Administration says they’ll have all hands on deck throughout the weekend.
