Local youth honors MLK

Folks on Delmarva also celebrated MLK  Day at the Keep Your Dreams Alive event at Wicomico Youth and Civic Center.

Officials say over a thousand people came out to  celebrate the life and works of Martin Luther King junior. This event sponsored by the Salisbury High School Association had interpretive dancers, speakers, and singers of all ages performing messages of positivity and togetherness. Edward Henry, the President of the Salisbury High School Association, wants children to realize that today isn’t just another day off of school.

“Dr King’s life had meaning had purpose and because of what he did they can live in the world that they are living in many of them do not understand how this world got to be the way it is,” says Edward Henry.

Henry says the younger generations will help keep King’s spirit alive and hopes next year’s event will grow even bigger.
