Local Cub Scouts send care packages overseas

Delmar Cub Scout troop 827 wanted to reach out to our troops overseas to give them a little extra support.
Sara Bush, the cub master of the troop, is an Iraqi war veteran herself. A military friend of hers is currently serving overseas, and that’s where the packages will go, but due to operational security she’s not allowed to know where they are. Still She knows first hand what it’s like to get a care package, and she says it’s like Christmas day.
The troops went down the line, filling their boxes with all types of goods that the other troops will enjoy, from slim jims – to a Tom Clancy novel.
Assistant cub master Kip Leitner explained that these scouts are sending these over to the troops not only for the troops themselves, but to also to teach the scouts about loyalty, respect, and helping the community.
Brothers at Arms, a motorcycle club that supports the troops were also there helping the scouts pack fill and organize the boxes before they are shipped off. This year Troop 827 wanted to send 25 packages over, they ended up with about 50. Next Year? 100. Lofty goals, but nothing this troop can’t handle. they’ve doubled in size over the past couple years, and they plan on only getting bigger.
