Hebron house fire hits close to home for Volunteers

Members of the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department say they responded to house fire on Grove Street, that home belonging to one of one of their Assistant Chiefs.

Hebron Fire Chief David Beach tells 47 ABC that about five companies responded to the fire, which took 45 workers on scene about an hour to extinguish.

Beach says the fire damaged the first and second floors of the home and they believe the cause to be electrical at this point.

The Assistant Chief was apparently on duty Monday when the blaze occurred.

“He was working at the station he got the call someone came up to the station. He tried to extinguish it before the fire was reported to the 911 center of Wicomico County,” Chief David Beach says.

Beach says no one was hurt and there were no pets inside the building.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is continuing to investigate.

47 ABC will bring you much more on this as details come in.
