Hearne building update

Cambridge officials say they now have the plans to stabilize the partially collapsed Hearne building downtown, meaning now it’s up to Dorchester County to accept proposals about what company will actually be on the project.

Officials say one proposal is already in and the county expects to receive at least one more.

In total, the stabilization is expected to cost between $500,000 and $600,000.

Cambridge City Commissioner Frank Cooke says Race Street, which closed when the building partially collapsed in October, will hopefully reopen between mid-February and March 1.

He also says the city and county should know which proposal they will go with before the end of the month.
