Hawks Edge Wildcats In 2OT Thriller

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women’s basketball team pulled out a thrilling double overtime win over Bethune-Cookman Saturday afternoon, 76-71. The win improves the Hawks to 5-13.
The Hawks would control the paint early on as Taryana Kellly would go to work on the block. She scored three straight buckets as the Hawks would take a lead into the second quarter. There the Wildcats got going with some hot shooting from the outside. They would take a 2 point lead into the break before UMES would go on a run in the second half. Moengaro Subritzky would drill a couple long balls as the hawks would continue to battle and find themselves in a tight ball game late. UMES would have a 3 point lead with 15 seconds to go before Jasmine Knowles would hit a long ball to tie up the game and send it to overtime. There the Wildcats would be the ones with a lead late, before Subritzky would drive and finish off the window for 2 to tie it up, and we would head to double overtime. There the Hawks were finally able to pull away as they would hold on for the win.
UMES returns to work Monday when they host Florida A&M.
