Guns and machetes reportedly seized during DUI arrest in Greensboro

A DUI arrest leads to guns and machetes being seized from a car in Caroline County.

According to Maryland State Police, shortly after 1 AM troopers pulled over a Dodge pickup truck on Route 313, at Linhard Lane in Greensboro for a suspected drunk driver.

Troopers say the driver, 22-year-old Brady Scott, of Caroline County, was arrested for driving under the influence. While attempting to place Scott under arrest, troopers say he resisted and assaulted another trooper.

During the arrest, a second trooper on the scene noticed a pistol protruding from under the passenger seat of the truck. Law enforcement say the passenger, Nicholas Garcia, of Falls Church, Virginia was taken into custody as well.

According to police, three loaded handguns, one unloaded pump-action shotgun with boxes of ammunition beside it, and two machetes were all seized from the truck.

State Police say, Scott was charged with DUI, assault, malicious destruction of property of a Caroline County Patrol Vehicle and weapons charges. Garcia was also charged with weapons violations.

Both were expected to be seen by the District Court Commissioner on Thursday morning.
