Emergency shelter opened in Georgetown
An emergency shelter has opened at Sussex Central High School in response to flooding in the Long Neck and Oak Orchards areas of Sussex County.
Officials with the Delaware Division of Public Health say some people were evacuated to the emergency shelter on Saturday.
According to Public Health, people being evacuated from the flooding will be allowed to bring their pets. This includes cats, dogs, and other small animals.
They say pet food, water, medicines, cat litter, and bedding should be brought along with the animal.
Volunteers with the Public Health Office of Animal Welfare will be staffing the shelter to help with the animal boarding and providing of basic needs.
