Dorchester County Public School counselors encourage scholarship applications

Counselors with Dorchester County Public Schools say their “scholars need dollars.” They say the best way to get that cash for post- secondary education is by filling out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA form.
Federal Student Aid is a part of the U.S. Department of Education. It’s the largest provider of student financial aid in the nation and it can be a major help for students who may not be able to afford college or trade school.
Dorchester County Public Schools will be hosting a FAFSA night where parents and students can complete the applications with the assistance of financial aid representatives from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Zulieka Jarmon-Horsey, the counseling coordinator for Dorchester County Public Schools says, “We want students to have as many opportunities to complete scholarship Applications as possible. We want families to be as prepared as they can for any post-secondary experiences whether it’s a four-year college, two-year college, or technical, or trade school.”
FAFSA Night will be held on Tuesday, February 9th at 6:30 p.m. in the media center at North Dorchester High School.
