Don’t forget your pets in cold weather

In the winter weather, we aren’t the only ones that need to stay safe. Our furry friends need help as well.
Dr. Kelly Davis of Pet ER says that first and foremost the most important thing is to bring your pets inside if you can. If you have reptiles, keep an extra heat source around in case the power goes out.
Birds should be kept away from open windows or doors because they too can get cold very easily. If your pets must be kept outside, the top priority are not only warmth, but also making sure their water source doesn’t freeze.
Also when taking care of pets, keep an eye out for ice, because the paws can get cut. Check them after the walk as well.
Pet ER is staying open 24 hours during the storm.
