Delaware man faces rape charges in Kent Co.

The jury for a man facing second degree rape and child pornography charges has been selected Tuesday morning, in the Kent County Superior Court.

Harold Philhower allegedly had a sexual relationship with a fourteen year old girl that spanned from July to August of 2014.

After Tuesday’s selection, the jury is made up of nine women and three men, with two men have been selected as alternates. Philhower is facing a number of charges including second degree rape and child pornography charges.

In October of 2014, Dover police say they were tipped off to Philhower’s relationship with the fourteen year old girl which they believe is linked to the Kaizen Karate Academy in Dover.

The girl was reportedly a student there, and Philhower’s spouse was an instructor at the time of the alleged incidents.

Proceedings are scheduled to continue, Tuesday afternoon.
