Delaware coast could be pummeled with high winds, waves

(AP) – A severe winter storm expected to dump more than a foot of snow along much of the East Coast is also expected to bring flooding and high winds to the mid-Atlantic coast.
A coastal flood watch stretching from southern New Jersey to the Delaware beaches will be in effect from late Friday night through Sunday morning.
National Weather Service forecasters say widespread moderate coastal flooding is possible, with major coastal flooding in some areas.
Wave heights on near-shore waters are expected to build to 15 to 20 feet, and tides and wave action could result in significant beach erosion.
Sussex County’s emergency management director says residents of southern Delaware should be prepared for impassable roads, downed trees and power lines, and power outages.
