Deadline looms for Del. health insurance

Monday marked the closing week of open enrollment on Delaware’s Health Insurance Marketplace.
Residents have until January to enroll through healthcare.gov.
According to Delaware Health and Social Services, more than 26,000 Delawareans have signed up for health insurance as of January 16.
Those who do not sign up are subject to penalties.
The fines are $695 per adult plus $347.50 for any child younger than 18 or 2.5 percent of a person’s annual household income, whichever is higher.
Coverage for individuals who sign up by Sunday can start as early as March 1. The federal government has said it will not offer a grace period to sign up for coverage leading up to the April 15 tax filing deadline, as it did for those signing up for 2015 coverage.
Delawareans can enroll in marketplace coverage at www.HealthCare.gov or www.CuidadoDeSalud.gov
