Customers race to grocery stores for last minute storm food

Food is flying off the shelves at the Food Lion in Delmar.
It’s typically the third busiest store on the Eastern Shore, but on Friday officials say it was the busiest.
47 ABC took a look inside and the milk shelf was wiped out. The store manager says all of their check out lanes have been open since Wednesday and the crowds haven’t let up.
Food Lion has doubled their staff as well as orders for milk, bread, water and toilet paper. However, one thing the manager says the store is surprisingly running out of is supplies for chili, like beans.
Wade O’Neil, the store manager says, “They’re looking to not just get the essentials, but a lot of them are going to be off. They want the snow and a lot of them are looking like I want to do the crock pot, I want to make chili. You’d be surprised.”
Food Lion plans to operate within their regular business hours throughout the weekend.
