Blood Bank of Delmarva recognizes blood donors in January

Looking to honor those who have made generous blood donations in the past, the blood bank of Delmarva is getting the word out about January being “National Blood Donor Month”.
We’re told it takes about 350 donors per day to supply the blood and products that area hospitals need to help patients.
A representative with the blood bank tells us that in December, they asked the public for more donations because of a potential shortage.
“Thank you to, gosh, everybody on Delmarva who did respond. It got us through the holidays, but we’re going into another one now and so we’ve got another long weekend coming up.” Michael Waite with the Blood Bank of Delmarva tells 47 ABC.
National Blood Donor Month began back in 1970.
