Bathroom light fixture to blame for accidental Princess Anne house fire

A Princess Anne house fire has been ruled as accidental.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the flames started around 8:15 AM on New Year’s Day, in the joist area between the attic floor and ceiling of a bathroom, inside of the Brannigan Drive home.

A neighbor apparently discovered the blaze. Officials say 21 firefighters from Princess Anne, Mount Vernon, and Deal Island responded, and had the flames under control in 10 minutes.

No injuries were reported. Damages are estimated to total $10,000. Officials say the flames started in the bathroom of the master bedroom, and have been ruled as accidental.

The fire was reportedly caused by and electrical malfunction with light and vent fan in bathroom.
